Raymond P. Lizotte, Jr., Senior Environmental Engineer, Schneider Electric's Critical Power & Cooling Services

Ray is the director of the Environmental Stewardship Office at Critical Power & Cooling Services business unit of Schneider Electric. In 2007, Schneider Electric acquired APC and combined it with MGE UPS Systems to form Schneider Electric's Critical Power & Cooling Services Business Unit, which recorded 2007 revenue of $3.5 billion and employs 12,000 people worldwide. Schneider Electric's Critical Power & Cooling Services solutions include APC and MGE uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), precision cooling units, racks, physical security, and design and management software. In his role within the Environmental Stewardship Office, Ray is managing the company projects and business processes necessary to ensure conformance to the many product focused environmental requirements that face the company.

Since 2004 Ray has lead a company project to transition over 2,000 products to meet the European Union RoHS requirements. This project is developing the business processes and tools to ascertain part, supplier and product compliance status and then redesign them to conform with environmental specifications. This initial effort is expanding to include all products made by the company and covers new regulatory requirements, such as the REACH and Battery Directives in Europe and other material content legislation emerging worldwide. Additional company projects include establishing product end-of-life management programs to ensure that customers have guidance and opportunities to manage products in an environmentally sound manner. Prior to his current position, Ray spent 15 years at Texas Instruments, where he had the opportunity to gain a wealth of experience in all sorts of environmental, health and safety areas.

Ray has authored papers on environmental issues and will soon be entering the blogsphere with Green Matters on the APC Partner Online Community. He recently completed a tour of duty with the Subcommittee on Environmental Technology to the National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology (NACEPT), which issued three reports on the promotion of environmental technology in the U.S.. Ray is a general application Toxics Use Reduction planner in Massachusetts and teaches pollution prevention tactics throughout New England. Ray is a graduate of MIT and lives in the Boston area with his wife and two children.

Mary Burgoon, Corporate Manager Global Standards and Trade, Rockwell Automation

Ms. Burgoon establishes corporate strategy for global regulatory compliance and standardization activities impacting Rockwell Automation with an emphasis on global product environmental regulatory compliance issues.

Ms. Burgoon holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration. Her education and work experience focuses around the management in capital equipment fields, specifically the application and automation of capital equipment in primary goods and other industrial sectors.

Ms. Burgoon has served and serves Rockwell Automation and the U.S. industry in national, regional and international capacities. As an industry representative, she has been involved with the negotiation on compliance strategy and policies on global product environmental regulations, such as Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) through the former Electronics Industry Alliance, and currently as a member of the Information Technology Industry Council's Environmental Coalition. Ms Burgoon is also a member of the American National Standards Institute/National Association of Manufacturers (ANSI/NAM) Chemical Network, which is an issue-driven group created to enable industry to speak with one voice when addressing chemical-related global regulations and regulatory controls. She is a member of the National Electrical Manufacturer's Association (NEMA) Task Force on Trade, the International Policy and Regional Standardization Committees for the Americas and Asia Pacific of ANSI, the International Trade Policy Subcommittee of NAM, as well as the following AeA committees: International Policy Advisory Committee, International Environment Committee, and the China Workgroup.

Ms. Burgoon is an industry representative on several international standardization development activities. She represents U.S. industry on the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Technical Committee 111- Environmental Standardization for Electrotechnical Products and Systems. The work of TC111 involves the standardization of processes for material declaration, testing for restricted substances, environmentally conscious design, guidance for assessing compliance to regulations, and environmental terminology. She serves as an industry technical expert on Working Group 2 of that TC—Environmentally Conscious Design of Electrical and Electronic Products. Ms Burgoon has been appointed as the Deputy Technical Advisor for the U.S. Technical Advisory Group for TC111, which is the U.S. mirror committee for IEC TC111. She is also an industry representative on several U.S. Technical Advisory Groups for technical committees for of IEC and ISO covering social responsibility, the electrical aspects of machinery, process control, and industrial automation.

Bruce Calder, Director of Restricted Substances, Intertek Testing Services & President, Intertek Ageus Solutions

Mr. Calder is a well respected authority on corporate implementation of compliance strategies for global supply chains for the EU chemical directive REACH, the restriction of carcinogens and other hazardous substances in consumer products and global requirements for recycling of electronics. Mr. Calder is highly sought after as a keynote speaker and expert and has provided guidance to both the US and Canadian governments on E-Waste requirements and financial accountability.

In 2006, Mr. Calder was recognized as one of the top 40 business leaders under 40 by the Ottawa Business Journal and was a finalist for Ottawa Business Person of the Year in the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Awards. Under his guidance, Ageus Solutions was awarded the Silver Award for the 2006 New Business of the Year by the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce. Before becoming a division of Intertek Testing Services in 2007, Ageus Solutions was ranked as Canada's 13th highest emerging growth company by PROFIT Magazine's Hot 50 List.

Stewart D. Sleeman, Material Content Manager, ESH Department, Sensata Technologies

Mr. Sleeman has over 25 years of experience in professional consulting and operations management. He has extensive international experience, having worked in more than two-dozen countries in Asia, Europe and the Americas, where he designed and implemented numerous Environmental Health & Safety programs for both individual facilities and for corporate-wide operations. He has managed ESH Outsourcing Programs for facilities in more than a dozen countries, and has developed and implemented benchmarking studies for several Fortune 500 firms.

Mr. Sleeman is responsible for the management and implementation for a number of critical programs for Sensata Technologies. In addition to his role as Global Health and Safety Manager, Mr. Sleeman also oversees all Material Content Management programs. Mr. Sleeman has been actively involved in the establishment of programs to address: the compliance status of Sensata products; obtaining detailed information from the Sensata supply chain; reporting compliance information to Sensata's customers and modification of products to conform to Material Content Regulatory requirements.

John Nagy, Corporate Program Manager, ENSR

Mr. John Nagy is the Director of ENSR's Global Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Services. This strategic service line covers a broad range of EHS management services, including management system development and implementation, compliance and management system auditing, environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance support, corporate social responsibility, and information management systems. In this position, John works with ENSR offices worldwide to ensure that the EHS management and due diligence needs of multinational clients are met consistently regardless of location.

John has 30 years of government, industry, and consulting experience, including various technical and management positions with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Waste Management, Inc. prior to joining ENSR. He has worked in numerous industry sectors, including transportation, petroleum, electronics, chemical, pharmaceutical, waste management, power, and general manufacturing. John is a Certified Professional Environmental Auditor, a Past President of The Auditing Roundtable, and recently completed serving four years as a Director for the Board of Environmental, Health and Safety Auditor Certifications.

Lori Kaczynski, Vice President Compliance Audit, Georgia Pacific Corporation

Mrs. Lori Kaczynski developed and currently manages the Georgia-Pacific LLC (GP) Compliance Audit group. She has a background in auditing, finance, treasury, and financial reporting. Her audit group is responsible for 180 – 220 annual audits in the Environmental, Health and Safety, and Commercial law subject matter areas across a global manufacturing and consumer products company.

Mrs. Kaczynski joined GP in 2005 as an audit leader in the Internal Audit group. She left the financial audit group to create the new Compliance Audit group in 2006. Previously she worked for a healthcare company as the Director of Financial Reporting and Treasury, and as a financial auditor for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). At the healthcare company she was responsible for the company's treasury department, SEC filings, and various other reporting requirements. At PwC she was responsible for large scope financial audits through the assessment of engagement risk and the performance of analytical reviews of clients' quarterly and annual financial statements.

Mrs. Kaczynski is a Certified Public Accountant and graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in accounting from Kennesaw State University (KSU). She currently serves on the KSU Accounting Advisory Board.

Alan Roy, Director Compliance Assurance and Measurements, Tyco International

Alan is the Corporate Director Compliance Assurance and Measurements for Tyco International a position he has held since August 2004. In this position he is responsible for developing and implementing the global EHS audit program and tracking audit performance for all businesses and is responsible for developing, tracking and reporting on global EHS performance metrics.

Alan came to Tyco after 28 years with Honeywell (formerly AlliedSignal) where his most recent role was as the Director of Health, Safety and Environmental for their Specialty Chemicals Strategic Business Unit. He is a graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, PA where he earned his BS in Civil Engineering and from LaSalle University in Philadelphia where he earned his MBA. He is a registered Professional Engineer.

Michael Vaudreuil , Ethical Sourcing Program Manager, Hewlett-Packard Company

Mike is responsible for the integration and coordination of HP's internal EHS management system and EHS audit program with HP's Supplier Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) program. In addition, Mike leads several work groups of the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) to develop and implement programs for shared supplier audits and auditor certification.

Prior to assuming his current role, Mike held several other positions with HP, including Global EHS Assurance Manager, Corporate Health & Safety Manager, and site EHS Manager. Before joining HP, Mike was the H&S Director for National Semiconductor, Corporate H&S Manager for Tosco Corporation, and Corporate IH for Alcoa.

Mike has been in the EHS field for nearly 35 years. He holds an MS degree in Environmental Health Sciences from the Harvard School of Public Health, an MS in Environmental Engineering from Northeastern University, and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from SUNY at Stony Brook. He is a CIH, CSP and Certified EMS Lead Auditor.

Phil Berry, President, Sustainable Product Works, LLC

Phil Berry runs Sustainable Product Works, LLC. The foundation of SPW is Phil's 25 years working with businesses to improve both economic and environmental performance. The goal of the work is to help clients create meaningful innovations to create better products and services, and improved supply chains.

From 1999 through 2007, Phil was Director of Footwear Sustainability. In 2005, Phil was part of the team that earned the prestigious Gold Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA) from Industrial Design Society of America (IDSA) for the “Considered Boot.”

In 2006, Business Ethics Magazine named Nike's environmental program the “best corporate environmental program” in the U.S. In 2007, Phil was chosen by Al Gore's “Climate Project” as one of the 1,000 people globally to be personally trained by Al Gore to deliver his climate change presentation.

For sixteen year prior to Nike, Phil worked in a variety of environmental roles including as a consultant to business and government on issues of business efficiency and environmental impact in China, Thailand and India; teaching resource efficient manufacturing to Oregon businesses for the state environmental regulatory agency; as an environmental consultant to the US Air Force; and eight years employed by private industry implementing environmental programs.

Phil has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Science, with emphasis in Economics and Anthropology, from Portland State University.

Thomas Terracino, Safety, Environmental Affairs & Security Director, Mars Snackfood US

Tom is a career EH&S professional. His career has spanned close to three decades, and has taken him from insurance, consulting, and risk management to his current role with Mars.

Tom is primarily responsible for the Americas Region, and also serves to coordinate and organize all global aspects of the Mars EHS process. He is based in Hackettstown, NJ, and he, his wife and daughter enjoy the outdoors in rural, Western New Jersey.

He received his BS in Industrial Safety from the City University of New York, and his MS in Industrial Hygiene and Safety from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Born and raised in New York, he likes to kid he's the product of the public educational system…

Paul Durkin, Director of EHS and Risk Management, Cookson Electronics

Paul is the Director of EHS for Cookson Electronics - a global materials science company that provides high performance materials, chemistry and technology solutions to the electronics and surface finishing industries with expanding operations in Asia.

He has 20 plus years manufacturing experience in EHS field, mainly in the electronic and chemical manufacturing fields, with Digital, Raytheon, Parlex Corporation, Textron, EG&G and now Cookson Electronics. Paul currently manages new business integration/ divestitures and global EHS compliance programs for the division. He is also responsible for the US Workers compensation program, the global property loss prevention program, an employee chemical protection program and a new product liability loss control initiative.

Paul went to University of Lowell, MA, graduating with a MS in Eng. in Environmental Studies where he developed an expertise in industrial wastewater treatment and has over 12 major industrial WWTP designs to his credit, one over 600 GPM. While with his earlier companies, he ran an environmental intern program with the University of Lowell developing new environmental engineers and peak their interest in the field.

In the past, he has been brought in by companies as turn around expert for ESH programs, implementing core programs and increase EHS awareness, mainly focused on wastewater discharge compliance, Workers Compensation, property loss prevention, Industrial Hygiene and industrial ventilation systems.

With the expanded Asian business, Paul has developed and put on numerous EHS conferences in Asia to support business focused on local EHS regulations and the global ethics of the company. These included China EHS conferences in 2004 & 2006 on EHS regulation awareness & permitting/ licenses compliance (majority completed in Mandarin) and in 2007 a Singapore conference focused on the Singapore new Workplace H & S Act with specific training in the new Risk Assessment requirements of the Act.

George Martin, Partner, Faegre & Benson

George Martin is a partner in the Corporate Group at Faegre & Benson LLP, an international law firm based in Minneapolis. George focuses on international transactions and related compliance matters. He has lead transactions in over 30 countries around the world, with a special expertise in emerging markets, having lived and practiced law in China and Eastern Europe for 5 years.

George founded and co-chairs the Firm's China Practice, and divides his time among the Firm's U.S. offices, Asia and Europe, where he advises both publicly-traded and privately-held U.S. and European clients regarding cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and establishing manufacturing operations. He is a frequent commentator on international business and legal issues and has appeared on CNBC, and in the Wall Street Journal and Counsel-to-Counsel magazine, among other media.

Allan Zhang, Director, ESD China

Dr. Zhang is a Director at ESD China. He has over 19 years of work experience in environmental consulting and research, and has consulted in Canada, South America, Korea, Taiwan and China. In the past 21 years, he has applied microbiology, chemistry and engineering principles to resolving a wide variety of environmental problems. Dr. Zhang has substantial pilot testing and design experience in water and wastewater treatment and extensive consulting experience in environmental site remediation, industrial air/water pollution control, environmental health and safety (EHS) audits, and environmental technology development. His strengths also include bioremediation, statistical sampling/testing design, probabilistic environmental and financial analysis, energy efficiency analysis and virtual plant modeling, multi-media environmental models, trace organic analyses, and GIS/GMS modeling.

In the past years, he has directed numerous projects in pollution control engineering, merger/acquisition (M&A) due diligence evaluation (DDE), environmental site remediation and EHS assessments for leading multinational corporations in China and the Asia-Pacific Region. As well, he has led various consulting projects in municipal wastewater management and treatment for international development agencies in China.

In British Columbia, Canada, Dr. Zhang is a current Member of the Roster of Professional Experts under the provincial Contaminated Sites Regulation (CSR). He has led development and implementation of numerous remedial action plans and managed various remedial cycles, involving in-situ vapor extraction, dual-phase extraction, pistol-pump product recovery, vapor incineration/thermal oxidation, carbon absorption, biofilter, chemical oxidation, natural attenuation; groundwater pump and treat, ex-situ excavation/disposal and/or risk assessment/ risk management. As well, he has developed expertise in petroleum chemistry and forensic environmental site investigations, assessment of tidal influence on soil and sediment remediation, hydrogeological modeling, SVE modeling and design, contaminant natural attenuation in groundwater and GIS/GMS modeling.

Frank Brandauer, Director EH&S, Avery Dennison Corporation

Frank Brandauer is the Director of Environmental Health & Safety Services for Avery Dennison. As the company's top EHS professional he leads its worldwide EHS programs. Specific areas of activity include supervision of the EHS management systems, liability reserves, compliance program, data systems, acquisition/divestiture due diligence efforts and EHS elements of the Corporation's Sustainability effort.

Prior to Avery, Frank was responsible for Environmental and Safety activities for Tenneco Oil Company's exploration and production activities in California, Oregon and Washington. He has also worked as an environmental consultant in the areas of water and waste management for Cochrane Associates in Boston, MA.

Frank is a member of NAEM's Board of Directors and is currently its President.

Frank has been in environmental, health and safety management for over 30 years and has his MS degree in Environmental Engineering and a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University in MA. Frank is a registered Professional Engineer (PE), a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) and a Registered Environmental Assessor (RA) in the State of California.
